Berritta’s “MONTE TUNDU” is a classic, elegant and characterful red wine made from 100% Cannonau, from 45 years-old vines.
Harvested by hand in the late September days, the accurately selected grapes from the oldest vines of the estate, after destemming, start their alcoholic fermentation in steel tanks for about 25-30 days (with daily manual punch-downs).
At the end of fermentation the wine ages in large wooden barrels, where every week “batonnage” is performed on the lees up to spontaneous malolactic fermentation.
Ageing continues then for about 8 months in stainless steel tanks, then 12 to 18 months in large oak barrels, and about 6 motnhs in bottles before market release.
The result is an elegant and refined red with long cellaring potential. Appearance gives a ruby red color. The nose enters with a fine and elegant olphactory profile of ripe red jammy-fruits, rose petals and sweet spices.
The taste delivers consistently with the nose: rich yummy wood-berries, dark cherries, dry and warm sip, with medium tannins, and a long, enveloping finish.
Food match: a great companion of savoury courses such as Spaghetti alla Carbonara, as well as roasted and braised meats. Try it with rich and matured cheese selection, such as aged pecorino cheese, and it will make you smile !
Recommended serving-temperature of 16°-18°C.
