Masseria Della Porta’s agricultural estate is nestled in Campania, in the heart of the verdant Irpinia, close to the small village of Montaperto – within the municipality of Montemiletto, a territory extraordinarily suited to the cultivation of Aglianico (Vitis Hellenica), a grape variety that gives birth to wines of remarkable personality, structure, and a great
inclination for ageing.
A small estate, born from the passion and determination of its owner, Achille — today a young agronomist-farmer who, with the unwavering support of his family, from whom he inherited the values of the land and a deep bond with the earth, has seen his dream slowly take shape and gather strength with time.
The estate extends over approximately 10 hectares, of which 4 are planted with vines, with the primary focus lieying on Aglianico, complemented
by a small plot of Coda di Volpe (not yet in production).
A vision of winemaking where the unique character of the terroir — so rich in pedoclimatic nuances — is given complete freedom of expression, elevating the potential of a remarkable land as Irpinia, through the cultivation of a grape as ancient and noble as Aglianico.
The philosophy is simple, and uncompromising. In the vineyard, manual work, low yields, no herbicides or chemical fertilisers. In the cellar, as little intervention as possible — because the goal is never to shape the wine, but to listen to it.
Currently, 4 labels are produced: a Taurasi DOCG, x 2 Irpinia
Aglianico DOP “Quattro Cerri” and “Audeno”, and
a Campania Aglianico IGP.
Achille’s ambition is to pursue parcel-by-parcel vinifications, guided by the age of the vines and the nature of the soil, crafting wines that are the very essence of a place — wines that express distinctive traits of power, freshness, and elegance, but above all, of profound balance.
